Chainlink Launches CCIP on Solana Mainnet
Chainlink has officially launched its Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) on the Solana Mainnet, marking the first time the protocol has gone live on a non-EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) chain.
This step opens doors for straightforward cross-chain exchanges and increases Solana’s importance in the expanding multichain future. Following the v1.6 release, Chainlink’s CCIP now links Solana’s agile and affordable platform to more than 57 other blockchain networks.
With these changes, developers and users can now securely share data and assets among different blockchain networks, supporting the development of big, reliable decentralized applications.
Top DeFi Projects Adopt Chainlink CCIP
“CCIP’s launch on Solana represents a significant step for the industry,” remarked Johann Eid, the Chief Business Officer at Chainlink Labs. As Solana can process many requests at once, has low transaction costs and is popular among developers, it suits the development of ambitious cross-platform applications.
Besides its technical progress, Chainlink’s move to Solana is also enticing big companies. Many established DeFi and Web3 firms, like Solv, Backed Finance, Shiba Inu, and Maple Finance, and new projects, including ElizaOS, The Graph, Zeus Network, and Pepe, are using Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Token (CCT) Standard. When collected, the market cap of these centralized cryptocurrencies is over $19 billion.
CCIP Enables AI Across Multiple Blockchains
Maple Finance has taken the lead by introducing the syrupUSD token. According to Joe Flanagan, interoperability is needed for large institutions to join the market: “We are happy to have integrated Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard.”
On the other hand, ElizaOS is introducing a futuristic approach by relying on CCIP to control its AI agents on various blockchains. “It moves us toward a future where AI agents can conduct transactions, organize activities and add value across different blockchains,” added Walters.
By reducing the complexity and lowering everyone’s expenses, CCIP will likely grow to include many more chains. Chainlink has steadily deepened its presence on Solana over the past few years. After introducing Price Feeds in 2022 and Data Streams in 2024, it now powers key Solana-based protocols like GMX-Solana and Kamino Finance.
With CCIP now linking Solana to major networks such as Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, BNB Chain, and Optimism, the promise of unified, secure, and scalable cross-chain development is closer than ever.
